An Awareness Comparative Study on the Capstone Design Teaching Method for Students in Ophthalmic Optics and Social Practice Division
Lee Seung-Won

Abstract
Purpose: This study aims to examine efficient teaching methods by comparing the perception of the Capstone Design teaching methods for ophthalmic optics and social practice division students.

Methods: Sixty-nine ophthalmic optics students and 107 social practice division students who took classes in Capstone Design were surveyed. Teaching methods were analyzed utilizing statistical measures.

Results: Students were found to have a positive perception of Capstone Design classes above the mid-level, yet the effect or preference of the class appeared to be somewhat lower due to the burden on the results. The results for class content (p < 0.01), preference (p < 0.01), school support (p < 0.05), and learning effect (p < 0.01) for the Capstone Design classes all saw male students as more positive than female students. Additionally, ophthalmic optics students appeared to be more positive than social practice division students in regards to class content (p < 0.05), preference (p < 0.001), school support (p < 0.05), and learning effect (p < 0.01) for the Capstone Design classes.

Conclusions: It is necessary to supplement and implement teaching methods by reflecting upon students' perception of the Capstone Design classes and analyzing the specific requirements needed.
